Introduction To Max For Artists And Designers

About

Design for Interaction is a hot subject but can be difficult to access. This one day course is for beginners who want to have an overview of the possibilities of Max in the visual arts. Max is a visual programming language that connects sound, video and OpenGL (3d graphics), network communication, sensors and more. At LCC, we use Max because, as a visual programming language, it is easier to learn; the way we teach it has been adopted by many prestigious universities around the world. You can see some of the projects our students have made using Max on the Interactive and Moving Image hub. After a short introduction, you will learn how to modify already-made Max patches (programmes) to play, manipulate and interact with video. You will learn as you create. After completing the course you will be able to: Use and connect sensors in Max to make an interactive video Understand visual programming and how this can be used in Design for Interaction projects Apply Max software to your visual art and design projects Once you have taken Introduction to Max, you might be interested in our Computer Vision course which gives you the chance to further explore how you can use computers to see the world.
