POSTPONED DUE TO SEVERE WEATHER
Intrastellar, meaning within the stars, is a new temporary site specific installation by artist Steve Messam commissioned by Forestry England at Grizedale Forest.
About
As part of the inaugural Cumbria Dark Skies Festival, this evocative floating artwork responds to the mirrored surface of the water forming a stunning interaction between the constellations of the night skies and the gently illuminated spheres positioned by the artist on the tarn.
The installation will be illuminated from 5.30pm – 8pm each night of the festival. There will be two guided walking tours each evening to the installation lasting approximately 2hours 15 mins with some steep terrain and a distance each way of 4km. Part of the trail is extremely muddy so please wear boots. Torches will be needed to navigate the trail to the tarn. There is also a series of free mini bus trips to the tarn from the visitor centre, as with the walking tours these need to be booked in advance.
Call 0300 067 4495 to book and for bus times.
