About

The work in the exhibition is created using the cut up technique, the subject is decide by the artists.

The cut up can be traced back to the poet Tristan Tzara of the Dada movement. Gil wolman of the Lettrist International used the cut up technique in the 1950's. The painter Brion Gysin used the method and he in turn introduced it to William S. Burroughs at the beat Hotel in 1959. Burroughs used this to create Naked Lunch(1959) and also in the Nova Triolgy.Burroughs and Gysin published a book in 1977 entitled The Third Mind which featured various cut ups. David Bowie used it to create lyrica as did Thom York of Radiohead for the album Kid A(2000)
