INTERSECTING DISCIPLINES

About

Robert Dawson, Ikuko Iwamoto, Philip Li, Nicola Malkin, Sara Radstone, Bodo Sperlein and Julian Stair Intersecting Disciplines presents recent work of seven contemporary artists and designers, graduates of the Ceramics BA Honours course at Camberwell College of Arts in a period from 1978 through to 2009. The range of these professional practices represents the continuing evolving nature of the subject; from that of the studio ceramicist, industrial designer, commissioned public art, installation and performance artist. The points of ‘intersections' are numerous in terms of an awareness of craft skill, the discipline and understanding of material and process, scale, context, design and conceptual issues and are a timely reminder of the creative use of the medium of Ceramics. This exhibition is dedicated to the memory of W.B.Dalton, Principal of Camberwell College of Arts and Crafts from 1899 - 1919, who was instrumental in establishing the Pottery Department in 1905 and was an important influence on the development of studio ceramics, both in the UK and USA.
