An exhibition of contemporary tapestry
About
Weston Park is renowned for its globally famous set of eighteenth century French Gobelins tapestries and other important textiles which are historically associated with the House. We’re delighted to bring the story of tapestry-weaving up to date with this three month exhibition of contemporary tapestry artists from Ireland and Scotland. This exhibition is the fourth in an ongoing biennial collaboration between the artists and will consist of around forty one-off hand-woven tapestries of all sizes – from miniature to massive and all designed on a large range of themes. The tapestries have been made over the past four years by the eight participating professional tapestry artists – four from Ireland and four from Scotland.
Visitors to the exhibition can expect to be blown away by the beauty, colour and sheer technical virtuosity of the work. There will also be opportunities to meet with the some of the artists and we are planning a series of workshops, talks and events alongside the exhibition.
Exhibiting Artists: Ireland: Frances Crowe, Mary Cuthbert, Terry Dunne, Angela Forte
Scotland: Joan Baxter, John Brennan, Clare Coyle, Elizabeth Radcliffe
