TRAVELS OF A SEWING MACHINE...MODERN DAY TAPESTRIES : STITCHED PORTRAITS

About

Harriet Riddell is a textile performance artist, she travels with her sewing machine, sets up in unusual places and narrates her observations in stitch, her practice is called InStitchYou. With a lighthearted approach Harriet encourages interaction with her subjects whilst experimenting with new surroundings; InStitchYou has traveled to Hong Kong harbors, Chinese Factorys, Swiss streets, French Galleries and Canadian cities. Harriet is also known for her 15 minute stitched portraits, as well as appearing at Weddings and other special events and recording the day live, in a stitched tapestry. A note from Hepsibah and Larry: We saw this girl at ART IN ACTION at Waterperry this Year. She was in the tent with the best of the best of recent graduates in painting, ceramics, wood and stitch. We, at Hepsibah think she is quite something...and so do the Arts Council apparently since she has been invited to do a number of gigs since Waterperry ....the strange dates are because of bookings we had to squeeze her in so the show starts on Sunday and the PV Party will be on Tuesday, I urge you to come and meet her, she is a rare thing and a true and wonderful talent...don't miss out.
