About

The Library has an amazing oral history archive, covering everything from politics to fashion. As part of our National Life Stories Crafts Lives project, we have interviewed and recorded over 100 eminent British crafts makers, exploring both their personal and working lives. Covering pottery, glass, metalwork, jewellery, textiles and book arts, this is a fantastic resource for academics, historians, creatives and students to draw upon. Celebrated ceramicist Kate Malone, a Crafts Lives contributor, will talk about running a successful creative business, her work and her sources of inspiration. Kate studied at the Royal College of Art and now has studios in London and Provence. You can find her work exhibited around the world including the V&A and the Geffrye Museum. There will also be the opportunity to meet the British Library team who interview craftspeople, hear extracts from the recordings that they have found inspiring, and get tips on how to use this resource yourself.
