Welsh Artist Vivienne Williams creates contemplative still lifes of texture & colour on layered paper.

About

Having exhibited in her native home of Wales for the last twenty years, Thackeray Gallery is delighted to show Welsh artist Vivienne Williams for her first London solo exhibition.

For this exhibition, Vivienne has created a wonderful collection of over 34 works; her subject matter being still life.  This work is contemplative, quiet and self reflective, as she says herself:

"My subject matter is still life - vessels, flowers and fruit. I paint everything from my mind, my imagination and memory, preferring a flattened perspective with simplified forms. There is an emotional significance invested in the objects by returning to them again and again - like working a seam, one painting leads on to the next."

A prizewinner at the National Eisteddfod in 1993, Vivienne also went onto receive a highly commended prize at the inaugural Welsh Artist of the Year Competition in Cardiff in 2000.  Furthermore, she has been invited onto the panel of Judges in 2008.

Her work has been purchased by the Contemporary Art Society of Wales, and can be found in many Public and Private Collections to include: Carmarthen County Hall, Swansea University Library and the World Trade Centre, Cardiff.

"Inscape" will run from 12 - 29 April at Thackeray Gallery, Kensington, W8 5ET.
