About

Curated by Naz Balkaya and co-organised by Performistanbul, the first exhibition of In-Flux, Episode 1: No Worries, will be facilitated in the van, which will be parked at LADA and Enclave Lab. Each day of the exhibition will feature a different curatorial concept around the debates of post-feminist resistance.

In this first episode of a series of exhibitions, Performistanbul artist Ekin Bernay is going to be one of the artists who will participate in the first activation entitled Re-Enactment.

No Worries aims to use the first exhibition as a strategy to create a safe space for emerging artists enabling them to contribute to various artistic networks. For this reason, the van will park at the galleries and organisations that support the emerging artists and the contemporary mind without incorporating the injustice of the post-capitalism. The intention of the exhibition is to create a network and reach out wider audience by interacting with the different audience of the each venue as well as to reduce the gap between art and public by connecting with the street and different neighbourhoods. In order to achieve this, performances will also be showcased on the streets aiming to trigger communication between the artists and the community and engage with the public.

In the first activation entitled Re-enactment, the van parks at Enclave Lab, where artists will explore the idea of a public space, performance and a carnival as a resistance. Artists of the day will create a non-violent action by taking the performative act to the exhibition space. The day relates with the aesthetical gestures within the spot of combat, and also re-creates these dimensions within the showcase. In this way, the act of resistance turns into act of renascence and also into a non-violent defence mechanism, which does not belong to one space but could relate with many. The re-enactment of these dimensions occur as a form of celebration that constitutes a slogan to engage ‘’joy’’ as a form of resistance in unity.

Re-enactment will be launched by the performances of Ekin Bernay and Caterina Gobbi and will continue with the live sound piece by DJ Collective Synaptic Island, followed by a party to celebrate being together
