About
Great Writers and their InfluenceMichael Hulse, Associate Professor of English and Comparative Literary Studies, University of Warwick.
Michael Hulse is an acclaimed and prize-winning poet, translator and critic. For Penguin Classics he has produced some of the most widely-read translations of great German writers including Goethe and Rilke.
Michael will be reading from his poetry, talking about the practice and experience of translating literary classics and shedding light on the ways that writing of the past influences that of today.
His latest publications are The 20th Century in Poetry, an anthology of 20th-century poetry, a new book of poems, The Secret History and a translation of Rilke's novel, The Notebooks of Malte Laurids Brigge.
