Derek Sprawson’s recent abstract paintings deliberately avoid literal imagery. They are painted in dilute veils of acrylic, soaked into the fabric of the canvas. Simple screen-like shapes contain subtle tones of subdued colour that propose scenarios with unusual, ‘incidental’ lighting conditions.
