Vyner Street Gallery is pleased to present the debut show at the gallery by emerging artist Ryan Dunn. Dunn arrives at Vyner Street fresh from representing the United Kingdom at World Event Young Artists in Nottingham during the Cultural Olympiad. Inane Systems will open at Vyner Street Gallery from 1 — 7 October 2012, 11.00 — 18.00 daily. A Private View/First Thursday late opening will be held from 18.00 — 21.00 on Thursday 4 October. Originally trained as an industrial designer Dunn's work occupies a realm between the worlds of art and design. His work reconfigures imagery from our everyday domestic landscape — generic chairs, shirts and magazines — to create strangely normal objects and compositions that are beautiful, absurd and sinister in equal measure. Inane Systems will present a diverse collection of collage art, fashion & textiles and poetic furniture design pieces that explore society's relationship with material culture and the social practice of lifestyle while challenging the underlying associations, assumptions and expectations about design that shape these phenomena.
