With the idea of the artist’s studio as the starting point, young talent are exploring diverse areas of the Federation of British Artists and Mall Galleries.
An exhibition of work by the In the Studio group of artists as part of Mall Galleries Education. Inspired by the Art Society model, the Federation of British Artists are equipping emerging talent with the tools, ideas and experiences to form their own collaborative art group.
With the idea of the artist’s studio as the starting point, young talent are exploring diverse areas of the Federation of British Artists and Mall Galleries. With the rent on traditional studio space increasingly out of the budget for emerging artists, the group are looking beyond artists’ indoor studios and gallery spaces to outdoor locations and intangible spaces inspiring artistic practices.
The 22 artists, all aged between 18 and 26, have collaborated as a group in creating this exhibition, sharing their own approaches on being an artist today. The works in the exhibition, which marks the midway point for the project, often depict the spaces these artists are working in.
