Tracing the history and techniques of printmaking, this exhibition showcases the talent and innovation of students and staff from AUB through an extensive archive of work collected over the last 30 years.
About
With a collection print making tools and an installation showing the workings of a contemporary print room the exhibition presents a timeline of the Printroom’s 30-year history and its adaptation to modern technologies and contemporary practices.
The collection of works form the archive explores how students have responded to cultural influences over the last three decades including the Bauhaus, Pop Art and Postmodern movements through the use of different styles, materials and tools.
Including both 2-D and 3-D pieces the works on display demonstrate both traditional and modern techniques including seldom used and time staking methods. Printing techniques include: Lithography, Wood Cut, Wood engraving, Lino Cut, Lino engraving, Screen print, Aquatint, Etching, Collograph, Monoprint, Monotype, Solar Plate and Cyanotype.
