A solo show by Jain McKay RBSA
About
Jain McKay’s new show looks at the advent of the technological singularity and the day that artificial intelligence becomes sentient. She questions whether it be a time to fear or celebrate, will it be the onset of Utopia or the end of the world as we know it?
Jain McKay studied 3 Dimensional Design at Wolverhampton University followed by Contemporary Practice at University College Falmouth. Her work looks at behaviour and inner beliefs through portraiture. Often allegorical sometimes symbolic, mostly monotone, textured and multilayered like people. She is a member of Birmingham Printmakers and exhibits extensively in Birmingham and Wolverhampton, selling work all over the world. Her technique is very individual, using large format drypoint print in editions of 12, she works into each one them with oils, layers of collagraph, ink or drawing, each one ends up very different. Becoming obsessed by the painting techniques of the Old Masters for her last show she continues to study and copy these techniques in a bid to become a better artist.
