To celebrate the Chelsea Flower Show 2017, South Kensington gallery McMillan Contemporary will be exhibiting a range of flower paintings by leading contemporary artists.

About

The group exhibition offers a journey from realism, through expressionism, to the abstract, with techniques ranging from oil and acrylic to watercolour painting. Some key emerging and established artists that will be exhibiting include: Amanda Watt – In her first London exhibition since returning from California, renowned Irish ‘Fusionist’ artist Amanda is exhibiting the interior and still life scenes that made her a household name in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York. Aleksei Shatunov – The highly acclaimed Estonian realist painter follows the traditional Russian school, painting sensitively balanced still lifes in oil. Claudia Kusknirczuk – This emerging Romanian artist incorporates classical and impressionist styles to create almost abstract paintings based on bold, rich colours. Joan Pontin – Residing in North Wales, Joan is a decorated botanical watercolour artist, and has won a silver-gilt medal from the Royal Horticultural Society for her flower paintings. Fleur Jackson – The Belfast-born artist will be showing her whimsical and thoughtful flower and interior watercolour paintings. Sophie Harden – A self-taught artist, Sophie’s passion is nature, which shines through in her latest series of vegetable paintings. There will also be a number of bronze urns and jardinières by sculptor William Fawke MRBS, including a commission for the ‘Country Life’ Centenary garden, which won a gold medal at the Chelsea Flower Show, 1997. The exhibition which will run until 6 June will take place at McMillan Contemporary’s temporary space opposite McMillan Fine Art, 25 Bute Street, South Kensington, London SW7 3EY.
