An Electronic Symphony Powered by Bicycles Tackles Air Pollution in East London
About
Gillett Square is proud to present its latest art commission 'in clean air we fly' by sound artist Kaffe Matthews, curated by Alice Sharp of the Invisible Dust series - an art venture which together with artists and scientists promotes environmental awareness. Its inaugural project 'in clean air we fly' is an electronic symphony involving Atmospheric Chemist Professor Brimblecombe and tackles environmental issues while being powered by Magnificent Revolution's bicycles.Matthews has made a new eight-channel audio work that invites the audience to reflect on how they could breathe 'clean air paths' in the future. Collaborating with children from local schools, she has created a shimmering symphony of melodic lines and clusters of voice and tone that will collide in ever-changing combinations across Gillett square.
