Using the intuitive and spontaneous process of marking making, we will create a series of loose sketches and drawings that enable us to focus on process rather than a final outcome.
You will be able to work at your own pace using traditional and non-traditional drawing materials including charcoal, inks, sponges, pastels and clay and there will be live music throughout the session to gently guide your movements and interactions.
The first part of the session will include an introduction to the materials and some drawing exercises that can help us slow down and feel present. After a short break with some refreshments and reflections, we will resume drawing, in which time you’re invited to choose your own materials and continue to explore the processes however you like.
This workshop is suitable for people aged 16+ with little or no experience and for those who want to expand their current drawing practice. All materials will be provided along with some light refreshments. Do let us know if you have any allergies, dietary requirements or accessibility needs.
Please note, although heaters and blankets will be provided, the gallery can get chilly in the winter so please wear warm clothes to make sure you’re comfortable. The gallery is accessible for wheelchairs and buggies and there's an accessible toilet and baby changing facilities.
Places are free but must be booked through Eventbrite. As places are very limited, if you can no longer make the event please let us know so we can offer the place to someone else.
This workshop is generously supported by Arts Council England and AIR Gallery.
