In his audio performances, artist and musician Cevdet Erek examines the relationship between architecture and sound, natural rhythms and sounds generated by technology. His conceptual and site-specific works combine, in addition to tones, our shared experience and are therefore political, without being explicitly so. The acoustic space is a space of the collective. Shamanic trance, progressive rock's audio experiments, the uniformity and strict monotony of minimal electronica, and techno's hedonism: all these are made tangible in his multi-voice performance with the traditional oriental davul drum.
