Impossible Words

About

Dr. Kate McLoughlin will lead an interactive workshop dedicated to understanding how words might represent war. Having been introduced to the challenges of conveying war in literature, participants will be invited to come up with words of their own in response to Tim Hetherington's images and to reflect on the experience with the aid of examples from modern war poetry. Kate McLoughlin is Reader in English Literature at Birkbeck, University of London. She is the author of Authoring War: The Literary Representation of War from the Iliad to Iraq and editor of The Cambridge Companion to War Writing. To book your ticket either proceed online to the check- out (www.openeye.org.uk) or call the gallery on 0151 236 6768
