Immediate Re-Action is a one-woman self-curated exhibition of contemporary abstract paintings by Anna Kolosova at Unit 3 Projects, ASC Studios. Kolosova will be showcasing a selection of new synesthesia-infused works, resulting from her recent studio practice. All works will be available for sale during the event.

The show will be featuring a series of mixed-media works on canvas, as well as an ongoing experiment, a collaboration between herself and Alberto Rizzo, a sonic researcher. Alberto and Anna are going to be chasing the ‘sonic dragon’ of sensory mediation while immersing the audience in their multidisciplinary live re-action sound painting.

There is a point at which the brushstroke almost meets the sound, in a friction. The brushstroke chases the sound, the sound chases the brushstroke, but there are restrictions in place. At this space is where the impossible wedding of senses happens, and we all are the mediators.

Bio

Anna Kolosova is a contemporary artist whose work lays in the ‘expanded field’ of painting, experimenting with materials, dimensions and life itself. She paints abstract realities using her synaesthetic perception, responding to sound, the spiritual realm and romance. Anna's practice often refers to our absurd human nature. Her pieces are made by a 'hopeless romantic' in today's techno reality of a fast-paced big city. She embraces the chaos that surrounds us and translates it into a composed image. In her works she embarks on a journey of finding a balance between chaos and order, feminine and masculine, explosive expression and organised composition.

Alberto Rizzo is an Italian sonic researcher constantly involved in the physicality of sound, bodily gestures into the ether and visual listening. His stratified practice led him to experiment with chaotic sonic spaces in which air flows and inaudible streams are shaped and painted into reality.

His latest research investigates the use of AI in his feedback instrument, interrogating the controversial human controlled by machine dilemma and ways of using machine learning to create new sonic landscapes.
