Johannes Von Stumm's first London solo show in five years covers two floors of the exhibition space at Gallery Different.
About
Von Stumm's work brings together complex combinations of materials, shapes and textures. Fusing together an amalgamation of stone, bronze, steel, glass and wood make for a captivating array of sculptures.
'Immateriality' focuses on Von Stumm's enduring fascination with the transitory effects of light and the challenge of then transforming this into solid sculpture. Whilst this is evident throughout his sculpture - it is perhaps best demonstrated in his Immaterial Figures. These seemingly abstract sculptures use negative space and light to suggest their figurative subject matter.
Promising to be his largest solo show to date, the exhibition will also feature a large public sculpture on the street outside the gallery. In addition to sculpture, the exhibition will feature works on paper - drawings, etchings and sketches.
