Jo Schwabl's solo is an interactive exploration of the role of conversation within art, guiding the viewer through a didactic journey.
About
This exhibition explores the ways in which art dictates conversation as often as conversation dictates art. Through her study of art restoration in Florence, Jo's work reflects renaissance influences which operate in tension with surrealist compositions and motifs. Elements of humour are merged with political discourse to create works that offer both comfort and challenge.
This journey through Jo's body of work ends with viewers naming her pieces, in an interactive exhibition that situates onlookers at its centre.
A word from the artist:
"Each piece is a figurative discourse on a particular theme, drawing on my own experiences and observations as well as the shared cultural landscape.
Ultimately, my hope is that my art will spark meaningful conversations and encourage viewers to see the world in new and unexpected ways."
