Emily-Rose Millhouse is a graduate of The University of Westminster in 2020. In the midst of lockdown, she like many others, found themselves as a sculptor who was unable to present a physical final degree show.
D-UNIT has given Millhouse a micro-residency in order for her to complete unrealised work from her graduate show. The resulting exhibition 'Illogically Dissociated' will take the form of a sculptural installation with soundscape, and will explore Millhouse's interest in the physical embodiment of the feelings created by the lack of control within the mind.
For Millhouse, form is metaphor for loss of control. She states ‘Form is also considered during the making process, as I am focused on how the visual physicality can affect the viewer. This is reflected through my consistent use of free-forming, fluid materials. These morph into their own forms uncontrollably, curated by contact with the atmosphere. By way of directing the material ambiguously, metamorphic forms are produced.’
