I'LL BE YOUR MIRROR
Supercollider is pleased to announce the next exhibition in partnership with FYCreatives: I'll Be Your Mirror, curated by Fiona Shaw.
Shaw, who spent her formative years in Blackpool but is now based in London, has invited Hania Stella-Sawicka and Candida Powell-Williams, both of whom have never been to Blackpool, to create new work in response to the town based on their outsiders understanding.
In addition to Stella-Sawicka and Powell-Williams' contributions, Shaw has invited Tom Ireland, a Blackpool native and director of Supercollider, to show new work, and Shaw will also show a series of new pieces developed specifically for the exhibition.
I'll Be Your Mirror has been devised with these differing relationships with 'place' at its core. Considering Blackpool as a site for individual wish-fulfillment via its opportunities for escapism and role play, the works in the exhibition reflect this by allowing the artists to project their own discrete interests onto the culture of the town - from a range of perspectives and varying levels of familiarity.
