Michael Wilson A retrospective

About

Michael Wilson CBE has been painting since Oxford and the Courtauld Institute of Art. From 1975 he worked at the National Gallery as Curator of French Paintings and as Head of Exhibitions. He was also largely responsible for the design and development of the Sainsbury wing. His influences are diverse, from the music of Franz Schubert, Richard Strauss, Benjamin Britten and Martin Carthy to Greek myth and Shakespeare's plays. These paintings are at once dreamlike, lyrical and brooding.
