About
IF is a handpicked super-group in the tradition of certain bands in the late 60s.It doesn't really want to call itself a crew or collective, rather a meeting of minds or a collection of attitudes!
Assembled by Chum101, from a collection of artists who were all decidedly left of center and naturally appreciative of each others work IF officially launched on 21/12/12 to coincide with the intent of consciousness expansion tied into that date.
IF has become a forum for creative and philosophical reflection, from which great things are promised to grow. Far out ideas, eclectic practice and challenging concepts abound but the manifesto is rooted in humour and fun. Serious intent, delivered in an unpretentious, irreverent playful manner!
Whilst each of the members is firmly anchored in the traditional elements of graffiti, primarily letter stylists, their approach in each case has taken a highly individual path. Having worked in and drawing from many areas and visual histories outside of graffiti, the work benefits from a broader perspective. Anything can find its way into the melting pot and the final brew can get quite a kick from the constituent elements. Like the breaking down and melding of flavours in a slow stew, this is fusion and psychedelic cross-breeding at its most creatively potent.
