Scott deLahunta discusses Publishing Choreographic Ideas

About

Independent Dance presents Crossing Borders talk with Scott deLahunta Choreographers are publishing a growing collection of reflections on dance practice in a variety of formats. Often working in collaboration with researchers, programmers and designers, these heterogeneous publication projects make use of text, moving image and more open-ended digital platforms. One example is the 'Choreographic Thinking Tools' (CTT) research project of Wayne McGregor. For McGregor, the original aim of the project was to increase understanding of dance making through its collaborative study. This has resulted in the development of practical applications in the form of novel tools and processes. This talk will present CTT alongside other related projects that point towards the artist's role in creating unique resources for the study of choreography. Scott deLahunta has worked as writer, researcher and organiser on a range of international projects bringing performing arts with a focus on choreography into conjunction with other disciplines and practices. He is currently Senior Research Fellow Coventry University/ R-Research Director, Wayne McGregor | Random Dance and Program and Research Coordinator Motion Bank/ The Forsythe Company. He serves on the editorial boards of Performance Research, Dance Theatre Journal and the International Journal of Performance and Digital Media. Booking: 020 7091 9650 Location: Siobhan Davies Studios, 85 St. George's Road, London SE1 6ER Crossing Borders is organised by Independent Dance in partnership with the Graduate School at London Contemporary Dance School and Dance Umbrella
