The House of Cyprus, the Cultural and Educational Office of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Athens, continuing its course through the contemporary cultural scene and within the framework of its 2016 visual arts program, presents the YorgosKypris’ solo exhibition ICONOCLASTIC EXERCISES, curated by art critic Maria Marangou.

In his new series of works, Yorgos Kypris, an artist with a long creative career, attempts, in a bold caustic manner, to comment on any form of power that has contributed over time to the development of society. Associating religion with politics, he creates compositions that raise powerful and relevant questions about the influence that such a relationship impacts in societies. Fear, manipulation, the mass cultivation of obsessions and stereotypes, fanaticism, racism and pleasure guiltiness compose the means which impose a particular lifestyle that Yorgos Kypris attempts to deconstruct.
