Because my condition as a trans woman places me in a vulnerable position within a world still brimming with prejudice and violence, simply existing becomes a challenge, an achievement even. The Trans and the Notion of Risk project visually translates the terror of being unmasked and stigmatized. These images depict the sense of doubt and apprehension about my transsexuality being unveiled, and the reactions that revelation could provoke. The staging of these images show my body trying to act while living in discomfort, struggling to flourish in the social sphere.
