Ian originally studied at Shrewsbury School of Art and Liverpool School of Art, where he focused on abstract painting and mixed media works.
For many years, he also worked in various museums and galleries. At Stoke-on-Trent Museums, he organised a wide range of one person and thematic exhibitions, residencies and commissions. Partnerships across the city included projects with Airspace and the British Ceramics Biennial.
During the past few years, Ian’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including venues in London, Manchester, Stoke-on-Trent and Hong Kong, and is held in various private collections.
As an independent curator, I have also been involved in developing a variety of projects, locally and nationally. Indeed, I have always regarded curating as a creative process in its own right, whether it involves collaborating with artists or working with organisations.
Ian is based in Greater Manchester, where he continues to develop his own work and curatorial projects.
