130 publishers, artists and graphic designers celebrate the sixth edition of the art book fair at Kaserne Basel

About

Aiming to foster the notable art publishing community worldwide, the annual art book fair I Never Read will be back in Basel for the sixth time on 14 June. What started as a platform for experimental publishing and printed matter straddling the line between art object and reading material, has now become an integral part of the annual Art Basel week. Once again, the four-day exhibition will be held in the Kaserne riding hall. More than 130 publishers, authors, artists and designers from more than twenty countries will present their art and artist books, catalogues, monographs, rare editions, magazines and zines from the fields of art, photography, graphic design and architecture.

The main focus this year will be on projects from Latin America and Africa: NADA Book Shop from Bogotá will present a selection of publications from small Colombian publishers like Cain Press, Jardín Publicaciones, La Silueta and Salvaje – Calipso Press is one of the few publishers in Colombia specialised in risographs. Alias Editorial from Mexico City, founded by artist Damián Ortega and Fundación Alumnos47, will showcase Latin American artists and their publications. Studio Steffen Maas from Aruba will present conceptual editions. Also, for the first time in the history of the fair, exhibitors from Africa will take part with a variety of work: Artist and editor of the magazine AFRIKADAA, Pascale Obolo, will introduce visitors to a selection of publishing houses from African states. Image Afrique will present books and magazines with an emphasis on African photography.
