This month, Richie Culver, the renowned British contemporary artist, teams up with Nuart Gallery as our international artist-in-residence, culminating in the opening of his new exhibition ‘I Could Have Gone Pro’.

This month, Richie Culver, the renowned British contemporary artist, teams up with Nuart Gallery as our international artist-in-residence, culminating in the opening of his new exhibition ‘I Could Have Gone Pro’.
The exhibition presents Culver’s latest body of work produced on location in Norway’s oil capital, which provides a compelling back-drop for his unique brand of acerbic social commentary.
Born in Withernsea, a town on the outskirts of Hull in Yorkshire, Richie Culver moved to London in 2000 at the age of 17 with his girlfriend, and a measly £8 in his pockets. Despite not receiving any formal art training, his first artwork was immediately featured in a group exhibition at Tate Modern, and demand for his new work has grown exponentially since along with his list of collectors.
Working with photography, mixed-media, painting and collage, Culver combines words and images in sparsely populated compositions. From stepping into the art arena as an untrained but enthusiastic novice to the present day, his personal life experiences have had a strong impact on his heavily autobiographical work, with ‘I Could Have Gone Pro’ no exception.
