I Am Yours

About

Julian Hartnoll is delighted to invite you to I AM YOURS, an exhibition of small works by bright new prospect Rosalind Davis. The works are small and technically intriguing; their complex surfaces using paint, print and embroidery are complex. Rosalind explores powerful themes of transience and survival, community and isolation through the use of architecture and its role and impact within society. The absence of people leads to a sense of melancholy and drama. In the title of this "I am yours" the artist not only suggests an intimacy in relation to the spaces depicted but also implies some suggestion of a glimpse of herself. Rosalind was born in 1980 and studied at Chelsea College of Art and the Royal College of Art. She has had several solo shows, exhibited in many prestigious exhibitions and has been selected for the Clare Morris Open, the New Cross Art prize as well as Salon 08 by luminaries such as Andrea Tarsia, Head of Exhibitions at Whitechapel Gallery. Rosalind was recently given a solo show by John Jones in their projection space - a space for artists who have great potential. She was also a guest speaker at The Stroud International Textiles festival in 2009 and is a freelance lecturer and creative practitioner with clients such as The Royal Historic Palaces and West Dean College. Future projects include showing with Trudie Stephenson of Emineo Fine Art in her collaboration with renowned celebrity hair salon, Regent Place who are providing a platform for some of the best emerging artists in the U.K. Rosalind has paintings in both public and private collections.
