Walters & Orbach approach their visceral works from different places but arrive at an unexpectedly comparable destination, their interests inspired by stories of living or dying.
Orly Orbach explores mythological thinking through visual narratives. Her dark, atmospheric and evocative imagery is inspired by plays, poetry and enchanted tales. She is interested in the rich historical and geographical depiction of underworlds, and how death acts as a mirror to life, reflecting reality back to us in reverse.
Kate Walters makes drawings about being alive, about how we inhabit our bodies. Her work tackles how our flesh, organs, skin, and bones all hold secrets about our selves: our personality, emotional life, sexual orientation, spiritual life, shame-bound aspects.
It is in our blood and bones that our soul chooses to make it's home.
