Exhibition Curatorial Statement:

I AM A WOMAN is a testimonial to ALL women in art and the world. This exhibit encompasses solidarity. This exhibition isn’t about anger, hating and or envying men but about women who are proud to be women and confident.

I AM A WOMAN is a demonstration of strength through the value of the artists’ practice, process and artwork and the desire to bring their respective contributions to the human dialogue in a divisively broken world. We are not negating the reality of inequality and abuse, but we forging ahead in spite of it all.

I AM A WOMAN is making a statement but from a discourse of strength proliferated from overcoming. A collective effort of engagement as women in the tough balancing placement we experienced simultaneously with/without/within the establishment - confident in our own value and bringing forth art as a result of that resilience in the face of adversity.

I AM A WOMAN is grateful for the contribution of women of earlier generations that made much of this new reality possible towards greater nuance and openness in the growing understanding of who women are and are becoming in our world.

I AM A WOMAN is on view at Lichtundfire Tuesday through Saturday, noon - 6 pm.
