Hypermorph Garden 4.0, is a series of paintings featuring floral, fauna and historical narratives at the mangrove forest reserve.

About

Prelude: In Muller’s morphs terms, ‘hypermorph’ means a mutation that causes an increase in normal gene function. The definition explicitly elaborates my speculations around Jetty Semeling: the nature could have mutated and has survived on the ancient civilization - Sungai Batu Archaeological Site – The oldest civilized monument in Southeast Asia.

Hypermorph Garden 4.0 is a series of paintings featuring the flora, fauna and historical speculations of the mangrove forest at Jetty Semeling, Kedah State in Malaysia. The forest has splendid salt-tolerant trees. It provides a buffer zone to protect the land from wind and wave damage. Through this series of paintings,  the artist aim to initiate 1) introduction of the mangroves forest reserve in Sungai Petani. 2) protection of the clean & green nature, the historical sites and natural attractions nearby the location. 3) awareness of reducing waste disposal to protect the nature and sites.

The Hypermorph Garden 4.0 series was being exhibited inside a dome tent. The tent was at the entrance of a mangrove forest reserve in Malaysia. This solo is now being transformed into a virtual art exhibition. Each canvas is W122 x H152.5cm, the series has 15 pieces which they make the interconnected length to become 1,830cm.

This project is funded by the Art in the City Commissioning Programme under Cultural Economy Development Agency (CENDANA) and is supported by the Sungai Petani Municipal Council, Kedah State, Malaysia.
