Inaugurated in 2017 with the works of 18 artists, the HubHug Sculpture Project welcomes two new works: a sculpture by Laurence De Leersnyder, and a painting by We Are The Painters.

About

Inaugurated in 2017 with the works of 18 artists, the HubHug Sculpture Project welcomes two new works that take place on Le Rack: a series of sculptures created in 2018 by Laurence De Leersnyder during her residency at Rousseau Clôtures coordinated by 40mcube, and Bouche Céleste, a painting by the duo We Are The Painters that uses the motif of an open mouth as a recurring motif in the artists' works.

Since its creation in 2001, 40mcube has been setting up projects in the public space. In 2016, in partnership with the City of Liffré, 40mcube created the HubHug, a  workshop and residence space located 15 km from Rennes, and extended its sculpture park, the HubHug Sculpture Project, in a rural area on a 20,000 m2 plot.

On this plot stands an outdoor furniture designed by the designers Erwan Mével & Thomas Le Bihan from a unique shape, a concrete slab made available by the company Rousseau Clôtures. Victor Vialles designed the signage for the site and Samir Mougas the graphic identity of the workshop. The latter also presents a series of three sculptures that confront an industrial aesthetic and an invasive nature. Laurent Duthion is planting an orchard of polygrafted trees. Cyril Zarcone presents Helicoidal Flight, which reproduces in wood a flight of stairs usually prefabricated in concrete. Pascal Rivet uses this space as an observatory for a work that has been put to the test of time and weather: a wooden replica of a lost and abandoned CIT truck under a tree....

Inaugurated in June 2017, the Rack is a redesigned storage device that is similar to a storage medium transposed to the scale of public space, furniture for the presentation of works of art, a collection of outdoor sculptures that is gradually being built up. From 6 metres high by 12 metres long and 2 metres wide, Le Rack makes it possible to bring together works on three levels, to create a collective exhibition built in height, a composition playing with contrasts between figurative and unbridled or sober and minimal aesthetics.

Since 2017, 40mcube has been inviting artists to create works to be presented on Le Rack, composing a constantly evolving collective sculpture. 9 works by Étienne Bossut, John Cornu, Rémi Duprat, Aurélie Ferruel & Florentine Guédon, Hilary Galbreaith, Camille Girard & Paul Brunet, Laurent Le Deunff, Briac Leprêtre, Samir Mougas are now gathered on Le Rack. Others will regularly come to take part, such as Laurence De Leersnyder and the duo We Are The Painters in September 2019.

The Rack thus offers a permanent exhibition open to all day and night, 7 days a week.
