Do you love writing and want to learn how to create your own illustrations? Or explore the world of illustration using your favourite stories as inspiration?
Taught by a professional illustrator and Financial Times cartoonist, the first of the three day course will be spent investigating the story, gaining an understanding the plot, picking out characters and planning playful illustrations which will effectively depict the storyline.
In days two and three, participants will focus on developing the appropriate approach and treatment for the finished illustration in a variety of media.
Phil Disley is an award winning illustrator working with both traditional and digital drawing techniques for business and in education.
Graduating from The University of Northumberland at Newcastle Upon Tyne with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design, Phil first entered the marketplace with The London Evening Standard, consequently attracting further commissions from both UK and USA. Phil regularly appears in The Spectator and his longest standing column ‘Wry Society ’ for The Financial Times he still illustrates to this day. Phil has won numerous design and editorial awards and has drawn, taught and lectured at a variety of institutions and events.
You will need to bring some of your own materials for the duration of the course.
