Inspired by the life and work of Madge Gill, seven ActionSpace artists explore destiny, the paranormal, fashion and sense of place.
About
ActionSpace presents House of Flying Angel, a group exhibition by the artists Abdul Jalil, DeborahLulendo, Hannah Le Feuvre, Helen Biney, Johnny Stone, Lesley Greening Lassoff and Umar Ravat.
Inspired by the life and work of Madge Gill, House of Flying Angel explores destiny, the paranormal, fashion and sense of place in the form of a curated set of ‘houses’ in the gallery. The house of Abdul Jalil will be a library of the supernatural. The house of Helen Biney is a house of textiles, ribbons and colour. The house of Deborah Lulendo and Hannah Le Feuvre is a wardrobe of eclectic garments and tactile hats. The house of Umar Ravat, Johnny Stone and Lesley Greening Lassoff is a house without walls exploring symbols and psychogeography, with reference to Madge Gill’s art and séances in the home.
House of Flying Angel will take place at Winns Gallery; just a stone throw away from William Morris Gallery coinciding with their retrospective exhibition of Madge Gill’s work.
House of Flying Angel will be part of the on going events celebrating the life and work of Madge Gill across East London titled Works by Madge Gill.
