Launch of Joan Charnley's 1949 textile design thesis, along with limited-edition prints and new work from students from Oldham College

About

The Weavers Factory gallery relaunches on January 8th 2022 with ‘Horizontality and Verticality’ - an exhibition celebrating Mid-century textile designer Joan Charnley’s 1949 thesis ‘Horizontality and Verticality - the Importance of Stripe in Textile Design’. The gallery will be launching their first ever book (a 220-page hardback featuring the story behind the thesis), plus brand new limited-edition prints from the thesis and Joan’s 1952 textile “Stars and Stripes” textile design. To mark their re-opening they've invited students from Oldham college to create new designs inspired by Joan’s thesis
