About
”Honeyed Violence“ is a term coined by film critic Raymond Bellour, describing the tension depicted between film, contemporary art, and exhibition spaces. It reflects his ideas on the seductive yet often unsettling nature of violence as portrayed in cinema, where violence can be visually compelling or aesthetically pleasing despite its inherent brutality. It also invites reflection on the relationship between moving images and their modes of display in the informatic age.In this context, ”honeyed violence“ can be understood as the tension between tenderness and harm, or the way love and affection can sometimes be intertwined with pain, conflict, or control.
There are two lines of content in this exhibition, one echoes the core essence of the term—material appropriation and experimentation—while the other addresses its abstract layer, focusing on the sweet but violent relationships that permeate our lives.
