HOME's annual celebration of artist film: dedicated to the power, politics and pleasure of togetherness.

About

For this year’s edition of the HOME Artist Film Weekender we dedicate our programme to the power, politics and pleasure of togetherness.

The HOME Artist Film Weekender 2020 highlights artists and collectives who are carving out alternative collective futures; exploring the radical potential of the present; and reflecting on pasts that have been erased or forgotten.

In this time of isolation and division we want to share visions of other ways of being together: from the unique, playful, politically-charged work of the indigenous Australian film collective Karrabing or a celebration of the UK Black Film Workshop Movement’s legacy by contemporary British artist filmmakers, to gentle, autobiographical intimacy in the films of April Lin, the wild pirate collage of Soda_Jerk’s Terror Nullius, and the virtual black trans archives of game designer and artist Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley.

Moving beyond human collectivity, the HOME Artist Film Weekender explores our complex, intertwined relationships with the other-than-human: insects, plants and viruses in Pedro Neves Marques’ queer ecological sci-fi work and multinaturalism through the Between Us and Nature reading group.

For the first time the complete HOME Artist Film Weekender programme will be available online, complemented by talks, discussions, reading groups and exploratory essays.
