Hey Let's Not Try Acting Like Dicks Today

About

Tom Ellis and Richard Parry speed under Hammersmith Bridge in a heavy-duty assault dingy. Stowed in front are several large paintings. As they pass Tate Modern their brief smirks serve only to emphasise the seriousness of their mission. Today they are bringing art to Canning Town — the strategic site of their next exhibition. HEY LET'S TRY NOT ACTING LIKE DICKS TODAY takes place in Canning Town's The Hub Community Centre, an architectural testament to the new politics of cultural cohesion and inclusiveness, comprising as it does art space, pharmacy, coffee shop, mental health centre, palm trees and police office. The exhibition will include a suite of specially made works. The Grand Opening is on 22 January 2009 from 6pm to 9pm. The exhibition commemorates the meeting of Mahathma Gandhi and Charlie Chaplin in Canning Town in 1931 and will run until 6 February 2009.
