A Photo Essay on Age, Gender & Sexuality in a Rural Region
About
As part of the CELEBRATE: LGBT History in Cumbria Project, photographer and visual artist, Colin Tennant, spent time with a group of older people from the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community in Cumbria and documented aspects of their lives.
The project explores what it is like to be LGBT in a predominately rural community. The photographs illustrate the subjects’ daily lives and the connections they have to the places they call home.
A small selection of images will be shown outdoor in the garden of Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery between 13th and 26th of June 2016, while the full series will be included in the CELEBRATE exhibition (10.09 – 31.10.2016) and Elements festival.
