Daelim Museum presents the exhibition, introducing the work of the fashion designer and artist Henrik Vibskov from 9 July to 31 December 2015.

About

Vibskov, the only Scandinavian fashion designer to show annually at Paris Fashion Week, is renowned for his use of iconoclastic shock tactics to create unique fashion shows, drawing attention and controversy in equal measures with each new collection. He has also worked in fine art genres such as photography, installation, video and performance throughout his career, gaining recognition as an artist with limitless potential through a series of exhibitions at numerous art institutions across the world.

This exhibition introduces Vibskov's artistic world: a realm that experiments with the expanded expressive possibilities of fashion through innovative attempts to demolish genre boundaries. It features more than 300 works, including a recreated fashion show runway, highlights from Vibskov's major collections, from his d?but to the present, and a selection of genre-transcending works, including several new pieces. It offers insights into Vibskov's S/S 2016 Collection, to be held at Paris Fashion Week in summer 2015, including rare insights into the exclusive backstage. These are accompanied by fine art works that reflect Vibskov's experimentation with and research into the materials, colours and production techniques of garments, as well as photographs recording his entire working process, from initial inspiration to final production. Its recreation of a fashion show runway, moreover, maximizes viewers' synesthetic experience using a variety of olfactory and tactile stimuli.

Daelim Museum aims to draw attention to the new generation of multi-creators, artists for whom creating is a process of play and pleasure, unconfined by the formalities of any particular genre and unafraid of change or experimentation with boundary crossing. This exhibition also seeks to demonstrate the potential of fashion to expand into an artistic vehicle for free and open expression, by combining myriad sources of inspiration and diverse artistic interests into one, rather than simply producing clothes as items to wear. By providing a glimpse of Vibskov's incessant transformations, offers the audience a unique chance to experience his artistic world on a physical level, in a playground for the senses, and to view fashion from a new and broader perspective.
