As a followup to the Union Street Urban Orchard produced for the London Festival of Architecture 2010, we're back at 100 Union Street SE1 to transform a derelict site into the Urban Physic Garden! The garden will be shaped by the hospital and the pharmacy, with a focus on medicinal plants and herbs, celebrating the health and wellbeing of our cities and environments. The garden will be open from June 11-August 15, and will be host to a summer festival of talks, workshops and events as well as pop-up cafe using home-grown herbs.
There will be a community build from now through June 10, creating a hospital-themed landscape out of reclaimed timber, salvaged materials and donated plants. Please sign up to help out! It's a work in progress and we need your brains and brawn. It's a great way to meet new people, experiment, play, learn new skills and get out in the sunshine.
