In the artistic praxis of filmmaker and author Hito Steyerl, it is impossible to uphold clearly differentiated categories such as fiction and reality, image and reproduction, theory and essay.
Steyerl sees the world as being based on codes, algorithms and widely ramified interrelationships. Her installation on the grounds of the former zoo forges a link between the animal kingdom and technology, between past, present and future: today’s robots are tomorrow’s dinosaurs.
