Helen Snell - Burnt Out

About

Burnt Out is an ambitious new exhibition of work by award winning artist Helen Snell, who uses digital laser and water jet cutting techniques to create her exquisitely detailed work. Inspired by time spent in the archives of the National Museum of the Royal Navy in Portsmouth, where she had access to iconic artefacts such as Captain Scott's wooden skis and the sledge used to transport his dead body, this exhibition features spectacular large-scale works made especially for the space at 20-21 Visual Arts Centre. The work, cut from steel, acrylic, paper, card and fabric, tells tales of exploration, survival and the quest for knowledge in hostile and extreme environments. Helen Snell is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
