The Drum presents
Heirlooms by the Techno Elders, Museum of the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham
An exhibition of frames containing 'heirlooms' made by a local group called the Techno Elders who regularly meet in Newtown. Local designer/maker Rita Patel worked with the group to explore the notion of what 'Heirlooms' means. The exhibition is made up of personal and sentimental responses to what an heirloom can be. Each piece is very individual and expresses that Heirlooms can be anything ' from words of wisdom to fragments of clothing.
This exhibition was featured at the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter in August 2005 and has recently been exhibited at the Public Space in the Mailbox, where it was warmly received.
